March 16th service was the "Cost of the Iraq War", given by our own Bobbie Prato.  If you wanted to know how much each man, woman, and child in Ocean County has contributed to the war, listen to  this interesting  service in either mp3 format  or in Real Audio format.

February 2008

January 2008

January 20: “Creation Spirituality: an ancient wisdom for modern times,” by Bonney Parker.  Unfortunately, this was not taped.

The Jan. 13th service on "Primary Colors"  the use of religion in political campaigns, given by Rev. Blair.  This timely service can be heard in mp3 format  or in Real Audio format

Our first service of 2008 (Jan 6th) was by Richard Saylor on the difference between religion and science, or between dogma and logic.  Listen to this interesting service in mp3 format and also in Real Audio format


December 2007

The December 23rd service was on Christmas.  First Rev. Blair did a gathering, and then did a service on "The Christmas Story" from two different points of view, those of Matthew and those of Luke.  Here this wonderful service in either mp3 format  or on Real Audio .  Either way, we hope you had a wonderful  Christmas.  

The December 16th service was on the Winter Solstice.

The December 9th service was about Advent and  Hanukkah.  The service was given by Rev. Blair, and you can hear it on  mp3 format    or on Real Audio format 
 

The December 2nd service was by David Shaman a philosopher/poet/musician who founded the Nonviolence Initiative. He has given programs on the empowerment of women and on school bullying, and is a master of massage and healing. He spoke on ‘ahimsa,’ a Hindu term meaning ‘non harming,’ and the philosophy of Lao Tsu.  You can hear his service on mp3 format  and now in Real Audio format

November 2007

The November 25th service was given by Rev. Blair.  The talk was about Thanksgiving, what people have to be thankful about, as well as when the "Pardoning of Turkeys" came about.  You can listen to it on mp3 format  or in Real Audio format .

The November 18th service given by Russell Hill was not taped.  

The November 11th service was given by Rev. Blair.  His talk about veterans and their plight was extremely interesting and timely.  To hear this service, you can listen on mp3 format  or in Real Audio format.


The November 4th service was given by Claire Mayer.  
She and husband Fred co-founded Garden State Earth Institute, affiliated with Northwest Earth Institute, which offers study courses on responsible ecological living, and will provide films and talks for interested groups. October 2007
We've moved

On October 7th Len gave a service on the First Amendment to the Constitution.  This was also our first service at our new house that we share with the United Church of Christ.  To listen to Len's service in mp3 format  or listen to it via Real Audio format

September 2007



The September 23rd service was about "The Days of Awe", between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, as well as UU sources.  Listen to this service in mp3 format  or you can listen to it on Real Audio Format


The September 16 service was “The Spiritual Aspect of Financial Health,” by Bonney Parker.  Bonney was very good in describing how our congregation needs to be financially healthy.  Listen to this amazing service in mp3 format or listen to it in Real Audio format .  

Our service on September 9th was entitled "Spiderman and the Interdependent Web" given by Rev. Blair concerning our 7th principle.  Due to time constraints, there was no Congregational response, but it was still a very interesting service.  You can listen to it in mp3 format  or Real Audio format

Our first service of September (Sept. 2nd)  was entitled  "A triangular peg in a round hole"  given by Bobbi Prato.  This was a very personal account  her life growing up as a transsexual.  Listen to this very inspiring and unique service in either mp3 format  or in Real Audio format

August 2007


The service on August 26th was about the sixth UU Principle, "
The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all".  Rev. Blair gave a talk about world peace, and different ways it might be achieved.  You can listen to this in either mp3 format or in  Real Audio format

The service on August  19th was about the
fourth UU Principle, “a free and responsible search for truth and meaning.”.  Rev. Blair gave a very nice talk on this subject, which you can listen to in either mp3 format  or in Real Audio format

The service for August 12 was about Hiroshima,  Nagasaki, and nukes in general, including nuclear accidents from 1950 to 1961.  To hear it in mp3 format  or listen to it in Real Audio format

July 2007

Due to technical difficulties, there weren't any recording for the week of  July 15 and 22.

On July 8th Rev. George Blair was back from General Assembly.  He gave his impressions of the East Coast/West Coast differences in  their spirituality and religion.  Listen to his insights in mp3 format  or in Real Audio format.

As of July 1st, the new board took over, but it was agreed that the old Program chairman would do the first service in July to help with the transition.  As Such, we had two of our members give their personal journey to UU and in particular to UUOCC.  You can listen to their journey in mp3 format  or in Real Audio format

On June 24th we were lucky enough to have Kenneth Little Hawk give a service on Respect.  He was also kind enough to play his flute for us.  You can listen to his service in mp3 format  or listen to  in Real Audio format .  If you would like to know more about this incredible person, you can check out his website here or listen to clips of his music here.  Please don't pass up this  chance to listen to one of the best Native American storytellers.

On June 17th Rev. Blair gave a service on the fifth principle of UU:  "The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large" .  His talk was about the Democratic process as both a political and religious belief and  the "right of conscience" and how it affects the democratic process in general.  This was the second of seven services on the different principles we UU's believe in.   Listen to this interesting service in either mp3 format  or in Real Audio.

On June 10th Rev. Blair gave a service on the first Principle of UU:  "The Inherent Worth and Dignity of every person"  You can hear this very informative service in mp3 format  or if you prefer, you can listen to it in Real Audio .  This is the first of 7 services on the Principles of UU.

On June 3rd we were lucky enough to have three different views about  "Women in War".  Our own Rhoda, Bee, and Laura gave their personal accounts of their life during wartime.  Each had a unique story, which you can here in mp3 format    or you can listen online with real audio

On May 27th Kevin Brennan gave a service on New Jersey History (NJ 1st).  These were facts about New Jersey, Ocean County, and Fort Monmouth that you may not have known.  You can listen to it here in mp3 format  or listen to it  in Real Audio format  .

On May 20th Rev Blair gave a service on The American Civil Religion .  Unfortunately, I was not able to get the audio for this service.    I apologize for the screwup.

Om May 13th, Rev. Blair gave a service on Thomas Jefferson.  How his Presidency was different then any other Presidency.  You can download the service in MP3 format , or, you can listen to it online via Real Audio Format ,

    We also wanted to wish all the Mothers of the World a HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.  


On May 6th, Bette C. gave a service on Israel and Palestine, telling us of her two trips with Global Exchange.  You can download the service in MP3 format  or listen to it in Real Audio format.  This is a very complex issue, but I think Bette brought up some very good points.

March 2007 Services

On March 25th,  Rev. Blair was scheduled to give a service on "The Rites of Spring".  Unfortunately, he was sick, and the service was changed.  Three readings were given by three members of the Congregation - Joan, Claire and Linda - on "Women and Peace" .  No Recording was made, but if you would like to read what was said, you should read the following: First Joan  read about  Lysistrata .  Then Linda read   "When will we ever learn?" by Louise Diamond  ..  Finally Claire read from Chapter XIV of Julia Ward Howe about her  APPEAL TO WOMANHOOD THROUGHOUT THE WORLD .  (Julia Ward Howe wrote the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" )

On March 18th Rev. Blair gave a service on "The Luck of the Irish" about the troubles in Ireland, as well as some history about Ireland.

Audio of Extra Events


On March 22nd, the first class of Rev. Blair was supposed to be given at the Berkeley Library.  Unfortunately, Rev.
